Workshop Overviews

These two workshops emphasize how improvement and planning efforts help to better meet the needs of those who are providing, receiving and partnering in services.

  • Using Quality Improvement (QI) Tools to Center Wellness and Health for All is an interactive workshop, offering several tools to improve outcomes.
  • Advancing Wellness and Health for All through Quality Improvement is a beginner’s workshop designed to engage and train practitioners on the foundations of Quality Improvement and the Plan-Do-Study-Act cycle.

Using Quality Improvement (QI) Tools to Center Wellness and Health for All (June 2026)

This workshop assumes learners have basic knowledge of QI and methods for carrying out formal improvement efforts. This workshop is designed to engage and train professionals and providers on a set of QI tools that support centering wellness and health for all in improvement and planning efforts.

Over the two, virtual 4-hour Sessions, Participants Will:

  • Establish an understanding of a set of QI tools to center wellness and health for all in improvement and planning efforts.
  • Explore the QI tools to increase proficiency in using them.
  • Identify how the tools can apply to their improvement and planning efforts.
  • Engage in interactive activities, small- and large-group discussions.

Learning Outcomes
In the workshop, participants will be introduced to several tools that can be used to center wellness and health for all in their QI and planning efforts, learn how to use them, and practice using them in a group setting. After the workshop, participants will be able to apply what they learned to their own context, carrying out QI and planning efforts to foster and support services that help all populations achieve wellness and optimal health.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss a variety of tools they can use to center wellness and health for all in their QI and planning efforts.
  • Identify where the tools and resources shared during the workshop can be applied in their own efforts.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply tools shared through workshop activities to support application within their own agency’s QI and planning efforts.

This Workshop Applies To: Public Health Professionals at Federal, State, Local, and Tribal levels (frontline staff, support staff, managers, health officers, directors), Early Childhood Providers (home visitors, supervisors, coordinators/managers), Healthcare Professionals (hospital HR, clinic mangers, medical assistants, nurses, physicians), Educators, Non-profit Organizations, and others looking to improve their internal processes and services.

A total of 7.50 Nursing contact hours have been awarded for this activity by the Michigan Public Health Institute – Continuing Education Solutions (MPHI CES # coming soon).

Michigan Public Health Institute-Continuing Education Solutions (MPHI-CES) is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Louisiana State Nurses Association – Approver, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Social Work Clock Hours Designation
A total of 7.50 Social Work clock hours have been awarded for this activity by the Michigan Public Health Institute – Continuing Education Solutions.

Advancing Wellness and Health for All through Quality Improvement (November 2026)

This is a beginner’s workshop designed to engage and train practitioners on the foundations of Quality Improvement (QI) and the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle.

The workshop:

  • Leads with the principle that there is no quality without attention to the needs of all populations.
  • Brings practical, accessible information to professionals and providers who are unfamiliar with QI and/or with using data and information to guide improvement efforts.
  • Introduces participants to QI concepts and critical tools that support the provision of services that advance wellness and health for all populations.
  • Emphasizes how QI helps professionals and providers to better meet the varied needs of those who are providing, receiving, and partnering in services.
  • Supports participants in centering the needs of all populations throughout the PDSA cycle.

This workshop is interactive. Participants will engage in small- and large-group discussions, polling, and hands-on activities, and will have the opportunity to practice and apply what they are learning.

The virtual workshop will take place over five (5) three-hour sessions conducted in a two-and-a-half-week period. There is also a virtual, hands-on, 90-minute follow-up session after the workshop to provide participants with an opportunity to engage with one another, share experiences in applying concepts, explore questions and challenges, and to further their learning. Participants must attend all workshop sessions and complete an evaluation survey to receive 14.00 credit hours for specific disciplines in which CEs are being provided and are eligible to receive an additional 1.5 credit hours by attending the 90-minute follow-up session. All those who attend the full workshop can receive a certificate of attendance.
