Overview

The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, previously called the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL), operates as a 24/7 national network encompassing more than 200 local call centers. In Michigan, the 988 network includes three call centers. Collectively, these call centers in Michigan handle over 8,000 calls monthly, with the total number of calls continuing to rise each month as the 988 system develops and marketing efforts broaden. MPHI oversees quality improvement efforts for call line operations, standardizing protocols, reviewing metrics, and conducting audits to ensure the effectiveness of the crisis lines.
