MPHI is excited to launch the 2025 six-week, virtual MPHI-PHIRE (Public Health Initiative for Resourceful Education) program for fifteen Lansing School District high school students. The program seeks to empower and educate youth about the opportunities and challenges in public health and inspire them to pursue careers in this vital field.
Eduardo Najarro, Ph.D., MPHI Research Scientist, will be leading the efforts this year.
Virtual session will be held on Tuesdays 3:30 pm – 5 pm EST. Session dates are scheduled for June 17, 24 and July 8, 15, 22, 29 (2025).
MPHI is actively accepting students who meet the following requirements at the time of application:
- Be a student enrolled in a high school within the Lansing School District.
- Be a high school incoming sophomore/junior/senior (Graduating 2026, 2027, 2028).
- Have an unweighted GPA of 2.75 or above.
- Show a record of service or leadership.
- Provide two letters of recommendation.
- Submit a completed application by Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded:
- $500 stipend.
- Public Health Initiative for Resourceful Education Certificate.
- Letter of Recommendation.
