MPHI’s Michigan Recovery Friendly Workplace (RFW) program is hosting an informational webinar on July 16th, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Webinar participants will:

  • Learn about substance use disorder and recovery within the workforce.
  • Explore how the statewide RFW Initiative assists employers in creating supportive work environments.
  • Discover inspiring employer success stories and learn how to begin your journey towards becoming an RFW.

The Michigan RFW Initiative works with employers to support employees in recovery from a substance use disorder (SUD) or opioid use disorder (OUD). The initiative provides resources, education, and training to help leadership and human resources reduce stigma and increase support for employees in recovery. RFWs are focused on promoting healthy and safe working environments where employers, employees, and communities create positive change and remove barriers for those affected by substances.

The Michigan RFW Initiative shared that employers adopting recovery-friendly principles may expect the following benefits:

  • Increased Productivity: Employees in recovery have fewer unscheduled absences and lower turnover rates.
  • Reduced Healthcare Costs: Supporting recovery leads to lower healthcare expenses.
  • Expanded Labor Force: Recovery-friendly policies tap into an underutilized workforce.
  • Improved Worker Well-being: Supportive environments enhance employee well-being and job satisfaction.
  • Decreased Turnover: Lower turnover rates reduce recruitment and training costs.
  • Reduced Substance-Related Accidents: Policies decrease the risk of substance impairment-related accidents.
