Advancing Public Health Planning and Quality

Strong public health systems depend on community input and consistent standards. In 2025, we supported local health departments across Michigan in strengthening planning, quality improvement, and accountability—helping ensure public health services remain responsive to community needs.
MPHI teams worked alongside local health departments to support community health assessments, improvement planning, accreditation activities, and workforce training. These efforts help communities identify and prioritize local health challenges, use resources effectively, and maintain high standards of public health practice. MPHI also supports and maintains the Michigan Local Public Health Accreditation Commission, coordinating and tracking the accreditation process and facilitating communication among program partners statewide.
In 2025, MPHI partnered with three Southeast Michigan health departments serving approximately 1.8 million residents and incorporated input from more than 7,000 community members and nearly 100 organizations. MPHI teams support all 45 of Michigan’s local health departments and engaged practitioners statewide through training and convenings.
