Preventing Infant Sleep-Related Deaths with Training

Preventing sleep‑related infant deaths requires clear, consistent guidance for families—delivered by professionals who are confident in what they share.
In 2025, MPHI’s Infant Safe Sleep 101 training strengthened Michigan’s child welfare workforce’s capacity to communicate evidence‑based safe sleep practices. The training reached professionals across Michigan and focused on policy context and strategies for engaging families in meaningful conversations about safe sleep.
A total of 400 participants from all 83 Michigan counties participated in the training. Among those who completed the post‑training survey, 92% said the training was helpful, 85% said it taught them something new, and 93% said it included information they plan to use in their work.
