In a recent episode of MSU Today, Dr. Renee Canady, CEO of MPHI and assistant professor at MSU’s College of Human Medicine Charles Stewart Mott Department of Public Health; Dr. Alexis Travis, assistant provost and executive director of MSU University Health and Wellbeing, and Dr. Norman Beauchamp, Jr, MD, MHS, MSU executive vice president for Health Sciences, discussed a comprehensive health and wellbeing assessment being conducted at MSU.
This assessment includes an anonymous survey to understand the physical, mental, and social well-being issues impacting students, faculty, and staff. Michigan State University’s (MSU) Health and Wellbeing (UHW) Division is spearheading the efforts.

The insights gained from this survey will inform the development of a 5-year plan to support Spartan health and well-being equitably. UHW’s assessment will focus on:
- Evaluating the health of student, staff, and faculty populations.
- Identifying prevalent health trends and issues.
- Collecting data crucial for customizing support services, allocating resources, and shaping policies to foster a culture of well-being on campus.
All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate in the confidential survey, which should take approximately 8-10 minutes to complete. For more information, please visit https://uhw.msu.edu/assessment.
Dr. Canady, with her extensive experience in public health, brings a unique perspective to the conversation. Her insights are invaluable in understanding the public health implications of the assessment and the potential impact on the MSU community.
